Our colleague, Christiana Hansen-Paintsil, who works with Medway council as a Customer and Business Support officer, with the Revenues and Benefits department, is also the founder and CEO of Heduca Foundation. Christiana started this Non-Government Organisation in June 2016 when she lost her younger brother to sickle cells, with the intention to promote, educate and create awareness, not just on sickle cells but also on health and social care issues, that affects the public, especially for women and children in our communities.
Christiana said "I am dedicated to improving the health and well-being of people within communities in UK and Africa in general. My experiences involve the responsibilities of developing strategies, managing, and delivering on a range of interventions and projects as well as monitoring and evaluating them. I also develop and sustains partnerships to promote health improvement as well as supporting charitable organisations in their delivery of health promotion activities.
"Some of our projects so far have been a yearly health screening we provide to the communities in Ghana. we also make donation of medical equipment’s, medications, and food items to deprived areas, we organise fundraising events through musical concert. health talk shows etc. I have a team of 26 volunteers of health professionals who are Nurses, Doctors and Biochemists, administrators, media team, and researchers, who support and makes sure our projects are well executed.
"Due to our work, we have won a couple of awards in the UK, which is the True African Heritage Award in November 2017 , the second one was in December 2019 for an Influential role model and Mentors awards, then our third awards was in March 2020 which was on International Women’s day UK and we received the award for Highly recognised Community Champions award, and just on the 21st of February 2023 I received great news, which I will like to share with you all, that I have been selected as a UN WOMEN UK delegate to the United Nations commission on status of women, which is the largest annual gathering of gender equality advocate in the world, You can check our website for more details and projects at www.heducafoundation.org"
